Sony VAIO will not work on my Samsung Plasma....

I have a Sony VAIO, VGN-NR120E. I just upgraded this computer to Windows Vista Ultimate. Before the upgrade this computer never worked with my 50" Samsung Plasma PN50A650 as a secondary monitor and still with the upgrade it does not work. I have tried to download the Video or Media update from Sony.com and 2 different problems come up, 1) it says i can not update because its not compatable with my system or 2) it says the version i currently have is a better version than i want to install. I ran with the second option and after i did my display driver kept freezing and then my screen went to 1/4 of the actual size and looked tie-dye and rainbowed. So i went back and re-installed my previous driver but computer still does not work with TV. Can anyone help with this?
