Ok I'm a newbie and I flash my 360 a few days ago and I used 8x for speed...That is what tells the 360 how fast to go? What is the besd or does it matter....Backup games play great but it seems a lil noiser ...What speed would make it quiet? or does it matter? TY

well if you want to make it not as loud, then a slower speed would solve that problem, but would also leave you with longer load times. and it is probably louder since it is ALWAYS at 8x now, instead of speeding up and slowing down like it would do if it was stock. however, 8x is a decent speed. i prefer to use 12x as this is the stock read speed of the drives, and on my benq it isnt much louder than it was before i flashed it.

better...umm depends on what you say better means. it would be faster loading, but will be louder and would be back at the stock speed, but would constantly be at 12x.

I thought I read in one of those c4eva irc chats that MS can detect drive speeds or was looking for them. Don't know if it was a fake log or not but I always go for 12x when flashing since that's what stock drives run at.
