i am just getting wii chipped tomorrow and have been reading and reading about bricking and ntsc and it bricking the wii. i am getting the latest mod chip installed and i am in australia so i realise that we should be only using PAL versions however if buying them from someone else is there a way of checking on your pc if is pal or not ?

yes i have searched and havent read anything about this as yet.

just open the iso of the game in regionfrii and it will tell you the region.

You can use WiiBrickBlocker as well. Just rip the backup to PC and load the ISO in WiiBrickBlocker and hit the INFO button and it will tell you what region the game is.

I don't think there is anyway to tell unless you have an ISO of the backup. I don't think there is any application that can tell by accessing the backup in your DVD-ROM drive.

so brickblocker is a program you have on the pc that you check the cds with not something you put on cd and put on wii console???

and same with regionfrii

so really you are better off downloading and burning you own games so you are not taking the chance of putting in a ntsc game?

oh so much to learn hehe

brickblocker is a program just to patch the iso so there is no update on the disk, so you dont accidently update ur wii or update it with a different region game which would brick your wii

regionfrii patches the iso so you can change the region, like if you wanted to play a pal game but you live in the US

yes, they are both programs that you use on your computer to patch the games then burn the game to a disk afterwards to play

right e o ok so i go get brickblocker if i buy bunt cds i use this and recopy them to disc and the kids are not able to accidently try to update great idea...off to find this brickblocker now thanks.

Im pretty new to the Wii modding scene as well.
But before you burn the iso, run it through wii brick blocker, and hit the get info part. It should tell you what region the game. Hope this helps.

ok thanks ill suss it out after xmas i have got a few games to put onto disc just stuck to pal games the whole thing is just a new area to me hehe so have a bit to learn sore eyes from reading so much on the pc..
i am a photographer so sit here editing all day and reading this stuff is hard yakka hehe
