what will formating my wii memory do if i have a wiikey installed, will it brick, reset and erase wiikey bios or reset and leave the wiikey alone????

Wiikey firmware, wii firmware and wii memory are all separate things. Doing anything to one of them does nothing to the other two.

Yep. If you're trying to revert to an old firmware a memory format wont work. You have to use the wii downgrader for that.
