PSP shuts down upon update

Hola all. Noob here. I've learned a ton so far from everyone.
I pretty sure I'm doing everything right on updating my cfw. I downloaded the 1 Stop Guide and it appears great. My problem is that my PSP shuts down before the update begins. I select the update version I want, the PSP screen appears...that screen holds for about 10 seconds and then the PSP turns off.
I have version 3.71 m33. I'm clueless on whats wrong. Please help.

Other than that, the PSP runs great. I can play ISO/CSO files fine. Movies are no problem in multiple formats. I really want to upgrade to ver 5.0!

I figured it out on my own. Thanks a lot, people!

If anyone else has this problem:

You try to run an update but after the PSP screen the screen goes black and the PSP shuts off. You need to go into flash mode via holding R1 during start up. Under configuration you need to make sure the kernel is set to the firmware version you are currently running. Mine was running 1.5 kernel. When I switched it to 3.71 it upgraded fine.
