Why can't my (always working) Memory stick + Pandora do new PSP's (v2000)?

I kickstarted my PSP modding business a while back with a pandora battery and a memstick that could flash both slim and fat PSP's just by pressing 'X'. I never saw a need to update the firmware on the memstick, so I think there's still cfw 3.90 on there, and it always worked, until yesterday.

2 customers show up and wanted their PSP v2004 flashed, but all I got was a black screen? I just want someone to confirm that the cfw I'm using is too old for these and all I need to do is update the memory stick with some fresh software to get it to work.

Anyone?

could be they have the dreaded ta-088v3 mobo.

if their firware is 4.01 or higher out of the box, they can't do anything about it.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Is there a simple way to identify these boards and/or identify the firmware?

Oh, no they don't have custom firmwares on them. I couldn't insert it after all.

Oh okay, so you need cfw ON it to check? Sorry, misunderstood. Yeah, that'd be a problem then.

Any other ideas on why my (always working) 3.90 cfw memstick wouldn't work or is that "it"?
