Hey, there, millerlfc. I downloaded the Cryptstar-v1.5.zip. When I extract it, the resulting Poweriso file won't open. Poweriso says it is invalid or corrupt. How do I get it together to load it to the Starview, please....tanx...doin' me brain in the last 3 hours on and off...(",)**

The resulting file is not a Poweriso file, it does have a .bin extension however. You need to download the gtromloader program, which you can get from the link in my sig below, eamo's library.
You will also need a "Null modem" cable to connect the sv to your pc/laptop. Yoou should have got a cable with the box when you bought it, however, a lot of the supplied cables were in fact rs232, and will not work, so try it, see what happens, and come back if no joy.

Sorry elkilpat Was Helping millerlfc...
Go Into The Menu And Select User Setup, And Try Manually Inputting The Time(Press Right On Current Time And Enter New Time)... Go To The EPG And See If The Time Is Correct... Then Go Out Of The Menu... Go Back In To User Setup And Select Auto Time(Press Left On Current Time)...
That Usually Works... Except At Midnight To 1am(Cuz There's A Bug In The Software)

golass, go in to the StarView 1 folder, then in to the Software folder, you'll find the gtromloader in there.

As to downloading from RapidShare, we know exactly where the firmware files on Eamo's library have come from, direct from the source ( little pun for the programmers), and they have been tested, so we know for example that the clone files are exactly what they say they are, not just renamed genuine firmware. I'm not saying anything against anyone, but you makes your choice and takes your chances.

Moved the Starview usb and got the message:" Prolific USB-to-serial Comm Port (com 17)". However, there is no com 17 on the Gtrom loader, just com 1-4, so I put the device manager com port to 2 to meet 2 on the loader. Could this be causing a problem? Tanx again....(",)**

are you scanning without any splitters on the cable, somtimes splitters weaking the signal and not all TP's are found, also you could download a cdf for your area to your box and this will bring back in any channels your missing :), I find if i only find 11 or 12 of the 13 TP's a cdf sorts the others,

The Files I Put On Rapid Share Are Directly From This Site And eko.4shared.com website... The Only Reason I Did It, Was To Pack Up The GTROM Loader With The Two Firmware Files, Fully Named And Clear So That It Was Foolproof Because Everyone Was Asking Were The GTRom Loader Was, And From One Source, The Firmware Files Names Were Scrambled... Therefore They Didn't Know Which Was The Genuine And Clone Binary Files...
