Installing programs to the same directory in multiboot system?

I have just setup my first multiboot system with XP and Vista Ultimate X64. My question is when I install the same program to both XP and Vista, if I install it to the same directory on both OS's will it still function correctly? For example if I install the game Oblivion to "F:\Program Files" first in XP then in Vista will I be able to play the game from either Vista or XP with out having to use up the hard drive space of having the game installed twice?

And my second question is, if I install a game just to XP and play it awhile, then later install to that same directory in Vista, would it overwrite the saves an settings data I made in XP?

Note: I am not actually doing this with Oblivion it is just an example. I have several games and programs that I want access to in both my XP and Vista install, but I do not have enough Hard Drive space to install them all twice to two separate locations.
