Just purchased a new Xbox 360 Elite for my son for Christmas. This is the second 360 purchased within the last 2 years! I have not opened the box as I am leaving it for him to open. The last 360 had the BenQ drive in it and was modded easily. I am curious if the new unit has the light on can you still mod this unit to play backup games? He does not play Xbox live just the backed up games(offline)? Will the current software rev work for this? I appreciate your help!

these are the safest way to do it if he doesnt want to solder on to the dvd drive directly and risk messing up his drive etc.
not all people are as skilled as you bhetrick including myself, this is the best way for people without using a solding iron

having the conntivity kit, will it make the liteon modding alot easier than compared to non connectivitiy kit, will an ametur person be able to mod it themselves?

LAMO dude he said 24/12/08 cause in other parts of the world they put the day first and then the month. US here in the US of A do things the old fashion way hence standard measurement system lol

Yes, I know that. But the op didn't state anything about what he can or can not do. If you can't solder, that's fine, but why assume that no one else can, either.
The best advice to give would be to list all of his options, not just saying, and I quote, "But you will need a ck3 probe and a connectivity kit to do it."
Then the op can respond for help on which route he'd like to go.
