The Box Super Updated With UK Fix But Still Not Working!

Hi guys,
I'm hoping you can shed a little light on the current dilemma that has thousands of people, including myself :) franticly searching through page after page of:
"What In The Name Of B'Jaysus Is Wrong With My Box!?!"
So here's my problem:
I'm in Dublin and have had The Box Super for a while now with no problems until, as with every other box in Ireland, it lost the battle to N*Hell and went blank.
I was directed to http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/683472
and told that the UK fix (8.02) would sort it out, but it hasn't. Still getting stuck at
"Updating... 0%"
OR
Updating to 100+% then restarting Update
If there is not yet a fix, so be it, I'll have to wait! All I ask is that this forum is used for Answers and not (silly, irrelevant, repeated) Questions.

after you downloaded fw did you
factory setting
menu 1570
set default key
turn emu on
installation
provider id
auto scan
exit back to channel with strongest signal (s*y indie, modern S*y2 etc)
and it should update got mine going yesterday

hi
i was in the same boat but when it would not flash until did the factory reset then flashed it
i got my download from here

and its working now

Ok, I updeted it then hit
Factory Setting
menu 1570
set default key
turn emu on
installation
provider id
Now I don't have Auto Update but maybe you meant Auto Scan?
If so I tried this, found 182 channels but still the same problem :(

yea sorry auto scan, are you sure you have correct fw check system information and see what it says, also you need to be going to a channel with storng signal, just keep going through them

Well the FW Update I downloaded is titled "GTRom_Super_8.02e"
and is displayed on the system info page as:
"Api Ver: 8.02e_E
Boot Ver: 8.0
30.Nov.2008"
Regarding signal strenght, most stations the bar is nearly full i.e all green with 1 white bar...
Other member Paul323 said "it would not flash until did the factory reset then flashed it"
Do you know this to be true? I can't try it until tomorrow as I can only do updates on my work pc (old connection)

yea thats what it says in my menu as well so seems like the right fw, I never do a factory reset before flashing but if it works then good, what i posted up above is all i done and mines working. sorry can't think of anything else at the moment, but someone else might have some ideas.
emu is definitley on.
Also try flicking switch off at back and then back on then bring it to premium channel and see if it updates.

EMU 100% on
I have tried on 3 different machines now.
This is 1 noodle scratcher I tell you. I'll keep trying and post back if I make any progress.

Richard i'm after changing keys in my nagravision exited out just to test it, on tv3 start updating went back to 0%, went to s*y 2 and within 5 seconds it updated so it does seem to be working.

Hey folks, I am having the same problem on a starview2 (The Box).
I am in Dublin, Ireland N*L region. I have reset the box to factory default and then loaded API ver: 4.55e_E from this site using the 4.03_051005 GTROM loader.
The Boot version is 7.0 and I reloaded the logo file just in case (I don't know if this is necessary anymore?).
I have re-scanned the channels, the EMU is on, however, this box still either updates in a continuous loop or just sits on 0%.
Has anybody in Ireland actually managed to successfully get an auto-update (and I don't mean by manually entering anything in Nagra Vision under the CAS system menu) or is it safe to assume that the 4.55 update has no positive effect on the Irish networks?

stevie have a look at some of the posts above yours and see if it helps you in any way, I got 2 boxes going and just reading in another thread someone got a box and box super going so it is working for some, :)

Hi All
Yep the current software update works 100%, had the same issues myself with the updating stuck on 0%, just change to S*y2 and leave it, it updated in a couple of min. 3 supers up and running now. Hope this helps

STARVIEW 2 The BOX updating in Dublin:
The firmware update 'The box 4.55 RAR' works on the Starview 2 (The box) in Dublin.
I downloaded the new firmware 4.55e_E from this site, used winRAR to extract it (available as a free trial utility) - the bundle also includes the GTRom 4.03_051005 loader so no need to download this separately.
I did a factory reset, re-scanned and then turned on the EMU etc.
I found that a cold boot (using the switch on the back) after the re-scan helps if you have any difficulty getting to the CAS system menu to enable the EMU - this seems to be because sometimes the box doesn't respond to every remote button push first time until a reboot...
Also you can get extra TV and Radio channels by doing a second scan after the auto scan (the one that you set to your provider, in this case N*L), but this time use the manual scan and set the down frequency first to 0, then enable the network scan.
Don't forget to switch your user setup preferences back aswell as these are also reset in the factory setting.
I tried the auto roll update on various channels: all S*kSp0rts and S*kC0medy to no avail (the update either hangs or loops). Finally I tried S*y2 and it pretty much instantly updated.

Hey Anto,
I have it working at last. The UK Update alone didn't do the job so I had to change the keys in the nagravision menu.
I reckon it's a very short term fix but it will have to do until we get a propper FW Update.

Lads,
I am desperately trying to fix my box super.
its out of action since mid dec.
i have tried d/loading fixes - but getting nil % progress on download. My COM 1 port is def working properly - but s/ware not connecting with Box. Ther eis a problem with com between PC and Box.
I can get Setanta Ireland and about 5-6 other stations but thats it.
Appreciate your help.

Joseph90 you need to configure your com ports correctly for your PC to recognize your box.
Are you using a Null modem cable along with a USB adapter OR just the Null modem cable also what operating system do you have on your PC.

Thanks for feedback Hi Teck.
I have a HP notebook attached to a docking station - which has one 9 pin com port COM1. Device manager shows COM1 port working OK.
I am connecting directly with box using a null cable.
Op system is Min XP Pro.
What steps do I need to take to communicate with 'Box' ?
