My youngest son will be pretty abused by his brother and sister this Christmas if I can't get a bit of help. He tipped over the console while the game was ejected and it broke off in the drive. I can't see the half that is stuck inside at all.

I was just hoping for a link to either a similar question that was previously answered, I couldn't find it after browsing the forum. Or if that isn't possible a link to a YouTube video or a website that shows how to open up the console and the drive.

I do have the tri-drive screwdriver and as an EET student feel confident enough around electronics to give it a shot but I need a guide. Thanks in advance for any help you can give

Ouch! That is officially a new one to me.

Theres a wii disassembly guide here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8epujddQTc&feature=related
If you skip ahead to about 5 minutes in you can see the top of the DVD drive. Your best bet for getting the disk out is probably going to be using tweezers or something similar to reach in through the small openings and push the disk out. I'm not sure if this will work due to the complexity of the slot loading mechanism, but take my advice that you dont want to try taking the drive itself apart. One of my brother's friends attempted to do that on his wii and all the tiny, complex pieces of the slot loading mechanism just fell apart. He was never able to fix it.

No offence m8 but no need for the little dig in your 2nd post!! You know you've come on asking for help but at least give people the chance to read your post then go off in search of the answer for you. I mean come on are you expecting afterdawn users to just hang around the forums waiting for people to help?

Anyway rant over

Cheers

And there was a whole 36 minutes between his posts too. Damn you forum members... need to be quicker in your responses. Ha ha.

I think it's a positive thing to post troubles on the forum, regardless if they find the answer to the issue its something that's brought to the awareness of others, Though it would have been cool if SNZounde had posted how they fixed it on their second post; but regardless the more issues that are posted the easier it is for people to find solutions and even if thy had posted their solution 2 to 3 other people are still going to put in their suggestion just as penguin98 did in which is much appreciated!
