i am using a mod jap wii with a 3.2j version. But when i put in new games like (Wii cheer,Blech versus crusade,COD5,guitar hero world tour) i can load the disc but after i press start game, it become blank screen and nth load up.i need to power reset the wii also.anyone know why this happen, only happen on games that are later release.someone told me that i need update my modchip is it? and i not sure what modchip i have. any ways to check it?

What region are the games you're trying to play? Playing out of region games can sometimes result in a black screen due to the screen refresh rate being wrong for the TV you're using.

i can play all region of game.but not the newer game. even for my region i cant play the newest game blech vesus crusade. it just hang at blank screen after i press start. same as guitar hero world tour

The only way to check your modchip is to open up the console and look at it. I dont think it's your modchip though. Generally, the error that old modchip firmwares get with newer games is error 001, not just a blank black screen.

I'm new this mod malarky and have just bought a Wii with a D2c pro thingy in.
I've made 6 backups from PAL torrrents and all play.
The 2 USA games I've done give me a black screen. I think it is because they are not PAL versions and my TV won't show them correctly.

Right, thats what I originally thought this problem was. Now I'm not sure.

I just rang the guys that fitted the chip in my Wii and explained this, and they said it is the firmware update blocker that causes this to save bricking the Wii.
In that case I'll live with just doing PAL iso's.

Hi
I having the same problem but my wii is on 3.3j & wiikey 1.9s.My wii remote no sign.
My game list havng problem
donkey kong Japan version,ski & shoot Japan version.But i have no problem for sonic unleashed & muscle impact.
Pls help.do I need to update to 3.4j?

Heya, I'm running the same setup as you (different modchip though).
I've had the same black screen problem as you a couple of times. The game would show up just fine in the disc channel, but once I loaded it, I would just get a black screen.
The first time was when I was trying to play a PAL game (which was COD5) and the second time was when I was trying to play City Folk (had to do with the Wii Speak update I believe).
Anyway, if you haven't tried it, try to load your problem games with Gecko OS. That should hopefully take care of most of your problems.

if your chipped wii is 3.1 like mine, I use free loader to load all PAL games on my NTSC wii. It just works.

if you have the homebrew channel lads make sure you have installed the IOS38-64-v3609.wad(Animal Crossing City Folk Patch) with wad manager or if you have the homebrew channel just play it through greko os, i have wiikey2 and i had the same problem ,it would work through wiigator and greko os but it would not play normaly, so i installed IOS38-64-v3609.wad worked a treat
