I am new to the xbox scene.

i understand that running any version of custom firmware has the chance of eventually getting banned.

my question is, is it only a ban? or will microsoft take further action?

e.g. one guy that i knew, about 1-2 years ago, he was running custom firmware on his xbox 360. He went on live, and microsoft came and took his 360 away and also charged him about £2000.

what is the chance of that happening to me if i run ixtreme 1.5 and get caught?

are you sure?, then my logic tells me that there is no risk of going to xbox live with custom firmware...

just a case of playing until your banned with no risk attached other than loosing the money spent buying xbox live?? because if so, then thats great.

also another question, i brought 360 so my younger brother and sister can also play. il be correct to think that only 1 account from my xbox 360 (which is still boxed) can go on xbox live if i were to buy 1 years subscription?...

its not the account that gets banned, its the xbox 360 hardware itself.

as far as the other question, you can only use one account on an xbox 360 at a time, unless its a game which allows multiple accounts to play. i think that left 4 dead, and a few others allow more than one account to play together online at the same time on the same xbox.

thanks for the reply.

so the biggest risk associated with online gaming with custom firmware is getting the xbox 360 banned from xbox live, and nothing more? so if i was to continue playing offline gaming, then i would be fine?

and i dont think you knew what i meant about the xbox live question. suppose i buy 1 years xbox live. Would all the users on my xbox 360 have access to live or just me? (since i havent opened my 360, i am assuming you make different user accounts for different people on 1 xbox 360)...

Correct, your Xbox 360 will be banned. The SWAT team will not come shattering through your windows to arrest you for high treason. If you never go online then you will be fine.

When you buy Xbox Live it is for an individual account, you do not buy Xbox Live for the 360 as a unit. So unless your friends/family members are sharing the same account, they will not access it. Having said that, you can move that account around from Xbox to Xbox so you'll have Live wherever you are playing.

thanks guys, some useful information there.

looks like i will use my 30 day free live account (after i finally open the xbox today) then a month later do ixtreme 1.5, then make 50 360 backups and buy xbox live nd then wait until i get banned.

the games i want to play online i will buy on ps3, tekken, pro evo 2009 etc.

c4eva, 2 weeks ago ive never heard of that name. Now i think hes a hero.
