How well do backups play with a soft mod?

I'm just wondering what people's experience's are playing backups with soft mod (no chip, just soft mod.) I'm assuming there's not much difference other than load times, but a friend told me the backup games don't play as well, and sometimes not at all (he has 3.4 firmware if that makes any difference.)
Is this true? Could it be the media he's using and not the soft mod itself? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've done the soft mod to my system twice now (once as pre- 3.4 U and now as 3.4u) and I think the compatibility of the softmod sucks for my wii backups. The games lock up, the load times are slow, and the videos are always jerky like in slow motion. I'm going to be purchasing a solderless wiikey2 as soon as possible for playing my gc/wii backups. You also can't boot gc games with the softmod, and this is an important feature for me because I'd like to make backups of all my old scratched NGC games before they bite the dust. If you are just wanting to run homebrew then the softmod is worth it, if you are wanting to do more like play backups I'd suggest a chip. Please don;t flame me anyone, this is just my opinion thus far.

Thanks for the feedback! Just curious, have you tried other types of media? What type are you using now?
Anybody else having good experiences?

Media are FujiFilm discs.
I don't think it's the media though, I burn at 1x too by the way.
Google for the backup loader 0.3 gamma compatibilty list and you'll see that others experience jittery videos and sound too. And some games are incompatible all together.
Unless I'm doing something wrong to get these results. If I am please someone let me know I'd love to have 100 percent speed on these softmod backups.

-Edit_ The reason I say I don't think it's the media is because one of my games runs flawlessly with no lag ( except load times are like 8 seconds longer between switching areas of the game). I used to have a chipped ps1 that did the same thing with the videos between gameplay (fmvs). It would lag, and skip a whole lot. So the wii doing this too doesn't surprise me one bit.

The one that is choppy and locks up for me is My Sims. Twilight Princess is as you say flawless for me. I am also having some odd issues with Thrillville Off the Rails at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. What media do you use? What backup loader are you using? Did you have any issues installing the soft mod?

Burning super slow used to be something that you shouldn't have to do anymore. Burners are better made then they were just a couple of years ago to burn fast and so is the media. I've often burnt Wii games at 16x and they've worked fine on a couple of softmodded Wiis. Some load noticeable slower, but most were nothing major.
