Is there a difference between codes and updating the firmware ?

I was wondering this...

Obviously, when updating the firmware it finds the new codes itself but when you put in the keys manually is it the same thing even though you still have the old firmware in the box?

yes it is the same but you are better off with the latest firmware because it auto updates itself

So am i right in saying with the latest firmware you'll have your channnels for longer than just putting in the codes or what ?

What he is saying is basically, if you update your firmware with the latest fix, then when they roll them, it will find them for you and keep going, so yes you will have your channels longer, if that is the way you want to look at it. But if you are happy to manually do that yourself, then fine, as long as you do not ask for anything like that on the forum or post anything like that either, it is not allowed okay.

Well put it this way, they have been known to do it twice a day for a long period of time in the UK, and yes is the short answer, because they now have a different ROM change method of doing it, so expect it a lot more frequent okay, that's all I have to say on the matter.
