how to save games on snes9x-gx 2.0

Hi, I've been playing SNES ROMS on my modded Wii from an emulator disc I created using WiiUI. Now I want to be able to save my progress on games like Super Mario RPG. I just got a SD Gecko Adapter and I have a 1GB SD card. I downloaded the snes9xGx201b8-sdslotb.dol and copied it onto my SD card under no folder. Then I created the folders SNESROMS and SNESSAVE. I copied my ROMS in the SNESROMS folder (all are .SMC). Where do I go from here to A) load snes9x-gx 2.0 from my SD card (is this possible?) and B) save my progess in games like Super Mario RPG or Donkey Kong Country 2? Do I still need to use my emulator disc and then use the SRAM Manager option or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
