wii-boss modded Wii not reading any discs

hi people

recently i tried using my wii, only to find out that it cannot read any kind of discs being originals or back ups, now this is the second time it happened to me and the guy who installed the chip told me that the chip or wii was mistakenly configured by itself and that it had to be reprogrammed, now i dont want to take my wii again to this guy and wanted to know if anyone here knows what can i do to fix it, i have a usb to serial cable from radioshack, the programmer that has a led light that connects to the cable that pops out from the rear of the wii from the chip, and a vista and xp laptop, so any tutorials or software to download to fix this???what os is better yaos, wii-free, etc?? vista or xp?? another cable??
