Idiots guide required to downloading wii games

Hi there,

Have owned a Wii for a few months now and only recently realised the possibility of downloading games. However seems to be conflicting advice on net about what you can or cant do. Have joined mywiidownloads but am struggling to get them to respond to my emails for help. Can games be downloaded easily and if so where? Can they then be played on an unmodified Wii console and how do you do this? Really need an idiots step by step guide to doing this or any helpful hints and tips please.

Apologies in advance for asking for basic advice but am lost with the conflicting info out there. Please help!

As for downloading/playing backup games, look around this site, it's been explained several times and if you take the time to read everything you can figure out how to do this... FOR FREE!

I'm in the same position. My Wii Downloads is a waste of money. I have no success or support from the 'support team'. What I am learning day by day is that you can softmod your Wii using the Twilight Hack or mod-chip it then download Wii games from any number of sources without parting with hard earned cash. I have asked My Wii Downloads for my 60 day money back (Hmmm - wonder if I'll have any success with that?!) and have instructed my credit card company to chase them as well. I feel well and truly ripped off. At least you can take comfort that you're not the only one!

Thanks for your update. Try and progress the refund through paypal if i were you as i managed to get my fee back in full.

As for My Wii downloads, it took me forever to get a file downloaded. Would not rely on this. Seems to me the best options is to get your box mod chipped and find a reliable source for the backups?

Modchip or softmod, both are viable options. And for games just head to any bittorrent website and do a search. thepiratebay.com and mininova.com are both good sites.

Torrents are ok but if you want speed and reliability look into newsgroups.

1.)You need a provider such as Giganews or Xennews which is a monthly fee mine is about £12 for unlimited downloads a month films movies games apps
2.)Software such as newsleecher of newsbin
3.)Forums such as United-Forums or Nzb Dogz
4.)Search for the game you want and Download the nzb from the above forums and say thanks
5.)Open the nzb in newsleecher and start downloading

Downloading at the full speed of your internet connection

Thanks everyone.

I think I'm going to go down the route of softmod and see what happens. I managed to download a Zelda sav file which I was hoping to use for the twilight hack instead of renting/borrowing/buying the game just to use for a few minutes. I'm not sure how to transfer the downloaded sav file to my Wii yet in order to do the hack but I can always rent the Zelda game anyway. If I don't have any success with the softmod then I will just go ahead with a mod-chip.
