My Wii is one of the older ones (although hasn't been used a whole lot). I have a Wiikey soldered in (the one with only a few solder points). My Wii has the 1.9s firmware and the 3.1u firmware.

My modchip always worked fine and I never had any problems. One day, it pretty much stopped reading my backed up games. It would read originals just fine, but I would get the unrecognized disc error with the DVDRs. I would leave it off for hours or even days and then turn it back on and it would read my backed up games just fine. But then if I turned the game off in an attempt to play another, it would stop working. I leave wii connect off, but that doesn't seem to affect anything.

At first I thought it was a soldering problem, but it doesn't make too much sense. Why would it work in the first place and then stop working? I bought another triwing screwdriver though, and it should arrive in a couple weeks. It's worth a shot to take a look at I guess.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on what to do, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for reading.
