Okay, so my friend just sent me a PSP for Christmas. I'm reasonably sure this is a slim one. What I want to do is get custom firmware on it. What's the easiest way to do this that won't require hard modding? I've seen tutorials that mention getting batteries from OTHER PSPs (which I don't have access to) and opening them up. I am horrible with this stuff and I don't want to risk breaking anything.

My current firmware version is 3.93 (not sure if it was upgraded to that at some point or if it came out of the box, this is used).

My PSP's serial number on the bottom says: AB003583210-PSP2001.

I've read that some PSPs have a motherboard that makes them incompatible with firmware or something.

Would somebody be kind enough to explain for a newbie how to do this in full? Thanks in advance.

All 2000 series PSP SLIM systems can be modded.

The only option you have to install the custom firmware to the PSP is with a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick. HERE is a guide that will walk you through the steps. You will need to buy a Tool Battery, Hardmod a Battery or find a friend that has custom firmware that can convert a battery to a Pandora Battery.
