I recently went to a store looking to purchase a PSP. after reading a bit here and at http://www.blastprocessing.net/?page_id=20 . Im living in Taiwan and my Chinese is very poor. ANyhow, in the broken conversation i got out of the techie that i could purchase a "V2" and use the Pandora battery pack to hack it. But the "new V3" won;t let you Pandora them anymore. Does this sound vaguely familar to anyone.

Secondly, if i get a PSP and i hack it, do i need to have a pandora battery every time i want to upgrade the firmware. or can i just borrow theirs for the 1st shot.

If you get a version 2000 series PSP SLIM then it is hackable. Most 3000 series can not be hacked. I think a few in the beginning where hackable but if you get a 3000 series with 4.01 firmware or higher then the chances are slim that it can be hacked.

As to your 2nd question. You only need the Pandora Battery to install the custom firmware. After that you can download the updates from here and other sources and install them manually. Or with newer custom firmware you can use the Network Update (in XMB) to update it via Internet (it connects to a site that downloads and installs custom firmware updates).
