Can someone give me a tutorial for burning import games? [i can burn U.S. discs fine, but I want to play JAP games too]

are there any special procedures i need to follow when burning / playing japanese games? [any settings on imgburn i need to change?]

also, what discs are best? Verbatim DVD+Rs just dont seem to work for me.
note: i'm on v 3.2 and can always downgrade

finally, does gecko os act as a freeloader? if it does, that means i shouldn't have to change my game console's language / system menu to japanese, right?

Your modchip may support imports. if not, your right gecko os can act as a freeloader

what modchip u using?

a decent one like wiikey2, xenowii, or d2pro should be the go.

the modchip should allow u to play burnt imports

BUT.... not all imports will work even if u patch the iso to your region.

compatability list -> patch game to NTSC-J

compatability list -> patch game to NTSC-US

compatability list -> patch game to PAL

these are some lists i found that will give an idea as to which games will work.

i downloaded 3 games which didnt work b4 i found these lists. hopefully this will save u some trouble

Wii D2E w/ solderless wiikey2
GDR-8163B hooked up via external usb 2.0 case

PStwo v15 SCPH-77002

uhh thanks for the reply.
first of all, some of the games i downloaded are not on the compatibility list, and it seems the list might be a tad outdated.

I'm trying to play Bleach Versus Crusade and Naruto:Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX 3.

Next, I'm not using a modchip. I don't understand why you need one. Currently, I can play several NTSC-US games without one. Do I NEED one for NTSC-J games?

Also, to burn a NTSC-J disc, is patching required? [i tried patching an iso and burning it, but it still didn't work]

I'm also going to get a new pack of DVDs tomorrow for burning.
Any idea what's good for burning?

1. the list may be outdated, but u cant complain its a starting point.
2. modchips vs softmod personal preference really, but with most game consoles modchips are generally better n easier.
3. patching should not be required if u r using a loaader or modchip, but hey it cant hurt.
4. choise of dvd's once again is personal preference. Verbatim is the most common choice, i use sony and have had no problems so far

i'm seriously having some trouble.
i still can't play my japanese games.
English games are working perfectly, but when i try to play a japanese game, gecko os gives me an error saying "Error : No DVD"

i know it has something to do with the language and stuff, but i still can't get anything working! T___T

P.S.

the disc does NOT register in the wii disc channel. [it says no disc detected or like...disc cannot be read. it should be saying that the disc is in a foreign language.]

this leads me to believe there's a problem in burning / the japanese iso

That is normal. A disk from the wii's wrong region will give the standard "disk cannot be read" error.

Your problem must be coming from your backup loader. It should automatically allow import games but if some of the settings are wrong that could be your problem.

I have been able to get Let's Tap working with softmod. I have also tried Bleach vs Crusade, unfortunately I get the Error 002 from loading the game. Clearly Let's Tap is a NTSC-J game but works fine.

Currently using Backup Launcher v3 with firmware 3.1U.
