For some reason i cannot get nero to work on my computer. but thats not the point. I authored elementary streams into VOB's with IFOedit. I wanted to be able to follow the guide on how to burn VOB's for nero, but as i said, it wont work. Can someone tell give me advice on alternatives to nero for burning VOB's and making Video DVD'S?

Superman1,

If you have a Roxio product (like easy CD creator) on your PC, Nero won't work and neither will most other burning programs. Roxio can screw up most everything :-(

An excellent burner is RecordNow Max, another one that LOVES Ifo's, bup's and vob's is CloneDVD (by elby). Just remember that no matter what, you still must create a folder named VIDEO_TS (written like that in CAP's) and place ALL of your files in it. Nero will not work without that folder, neither will the any of the others.

And my last HINT for using Nero is, you must use it in the classic mode.

Nero is pretty good so just for the "heck" of it, I'm including, at No Additional Cost, my step-by-step guide for Nero. Should you follow all my tips, I think you will find it works pretty well - If not, try the others I mentioned :-)

Step by Step ?
Do not use Nero Wizard.
When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the ?New Compilation? window. Directly under the title ?New Compilation? is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click ?New? in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen.
You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder, the one you made earlier holding all of your files and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the ?Shift? key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left.
Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click ?OK? and now ? ?Burn Baby, Burn !? ? ?Let me hear you say it, Who?s your Daddy Now ????
(Wheeew, now I need a cigarette)

Guess what my Friend ? You are done !!!

NOW, STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER ! !
Keep all fingers and toes away from Ms. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she?s working ? it would be hazardous to your health, you understand -
Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, she will let you know ;-))

Happy burning and, Welcome to the Club :D

Thanks for the help. I used roxio Easy CD Creator platinum before i got my dvd burner. When i got the Sony DRU-510A i read that you could use the roxio stuff anymore. But i didnt realize that thats why Nero wouldn't work. Thanks for your help.

I have to really question the knowledge and experience of those who told you that -

You might want to re-examine those who wrote that statement. - I have talked to too many "people in trouble" and the underlying cause of their problems was Roxio. That is the reason I told you, as a general rule, and I will go so far as to say, an excepted rule, that Nero WILL NOT work with Roxio on board. I repeat, in order to use Nero you CAN NOT use Roxio. You can use one or the other. Those that have both are few and far between and generally, sooner or later, we see them here and they are told to uninstall Roxio.

I must stand by my original post, if you wish Nero to work, uninstall Roxio.
