Hello all,

My son got a Xbox 360 for Christmas and also the Pelican Wireless adaptor. I ran the instal, but I kept getting a DNS failed,so I reset his Xbox to factory default and now his NAT is strict. I have a Xbox 360 wired to my modem and router and my NAT is open,I can't seem to find a reason why his NAT is strict. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you use the Dianostics tools located in the systems/Network menu on the Xbox 360?

"I have a Xbox 360 wired to my modem and router..." is this a hypbrid modem router provided by your ISP? If so, is it a westel?

I had this same problem with my connectivity to Xbox live. It turns out that my netgear Rangemax, which was about 3 years old did not support UPnP. (Universal Plug and Play) The solution was to disable the Firewall, and it would work. The Next Day, I purchased a Dlink Gamer's Lounge Router which worked fine.

btw, My Pelican adapter is currently working, wireless bridging 3 network devices back to my D-Link WAP.

I do not think that any recent Microsoft updates would disable your Pelican, since it functions as a wireless bridge, vs's microsoft's 360 wirless adapter which is a true USB NIC. (Network Interface Card)

This is your options,

1. Run the X-box live diagnostics tool, (My Xbox -> System -> Network-> test xbox Live) and post the resulting here.

OR

2. [Not recommended for long term solution] Disable your firewall to see if it can connect.

OR

3. Port forward TCP Port 3074 and UDP Port 88,3074 to your Xbox. These are the ports Xbox 360 works off of. If you need help port forwarding your router, visit http://portforward.com/ for help with your particular router.

The modem/router was provided by my ISP which was Alltel, but changed to Windstream. I know how to open the ports on both my router and modem/router. Both of those devices support the UPnP. I can get one xbox's NAT open, the other NAT stays Strict. Or it's vice versa, depending on which Xbox is turned on first. Someone told me I need to set-up my modem/router as a bridge to my router. Well I did that,I could not get my Linksys router to set up in PPoPE and Linksys wanted to charge me 30.00 to talk to me,so I reset everything back to the way it was. My ISP recently sent a new modem type called a 2-Wire. They told me without a doubt this would take care of the problem (I don't know for sure). So I'm gonna install tomorrow and see what happens.
