ok so i have got the wii chipped last week and have some games that i have managed to burn to disc successfully now animal crossing is asking for an update and i have told the kids to never ever do an update or ill brick them hehe

how do i do the update. the guy that did our mod chip said to get the latest wii music that has the latest update on it ..i have downloaded this wii game however am afraid to do it should i go hire it and do it that way or are you better updating some other way.

i forgot to mention that it is a pal console with pal downloads...and i double checked they were pal games i downloaded with wiibrickblocker.

Well first off, wii music no longer as the latest update on it. The newest update is 3.4 and is so far only available online as far as I know.

Anyway, so long as you dont do homebrew and the game you're updating from is from your wii's home region its safe to update. Many of the newer firmwares have messed with homebrew in various ways, but there are workarounds now if you do run any homebrew.

Bricking only occurs with out-of-region games and no firmware to date has managed to interfere with the ability of a modchip to boot an unmodified game backup.

hate to be daft but what is "dont do homebrew mean"? is this the chip program...?(closing my eyes as i type as i feel like a complete clueless newbie hehe)we had our wii chipped by ozmods how do i know this..i will call them tomorrow to find out which chip we have which i think is the wiikey..

so these downloaded wii games i can do the updates from them safely if they are from my region?????

And homebrew is any sort of programs un-endorsed by nintendo. Some of the most common homebrew programs are things like emulators, which let you run classic game roms from the wii's SD card slot instead of having to buy them from the virtual console. As you might guess nintendo has been trying pretty hard to shut that down.

sorry for being a spanner hehe just paranoid and learning super fast about this whole wii bisiness hehe...

thanks heapppps for your prompt replies much appreciated...

now next query is

SD Gecko Adapter (backup wii games) i just order one to back up my original games (i have three kids) how does this affect the updates once you start using this..is there any problems...

(i am reading other threads i promise just need confirmation on a couple of things...have learnt a bunch of things from others questions..gotta lurve the search button)
