I remember my first tape it was called VHS, And cost me £15.00 for one 3.hour tape.

Really?? and there is a point to this?

First video machine I had was a sony reel to reel helical scan black+white machine.. followed by a Philips N1500. 1 hour max recording time and very finicky.. most of the time it never seemed to want to work. When (with usually much swearing and cursing) you could coax it into life the pictures were far better than the early vhs machines.. Very high head/tape speed which gave cracking sound too. As usual for philips tho.. they didn'#t have any big studio tie-ins which meant the system was pretty much doomed from the start when JVC did that deal with BRC/Thorn which brought in EMI and the big film studios for rental and tapes to buy...

Little potted history of why vhs dominated the home vcr market even though there were far better formats out there.. betamax for one made much better pictures, and the late series philips2000 machines were just awesome.
