Console can't read WiiMusic Disc

Aging granny needs help in simplest terms possible to help the kids play their new Wii Music game.

We get the message "can't read disc". I don't know which version Wii we have. I can't seem to find any identifying info on it.

I've read a lot of threads about this, but the language is like from another planet.

Here's hoping someone can take pity on me and guide me through the process of whatever needs to be done to play this game.

is it a backup? what menu version do you have? what modchip/backup loader are you using? do any other originals/backups work?

Disc is brand new, never used. Where would I find all of those things you asked about?

Super Smash Brothers Brawl doesn't work either, even though the disc looks clean, but all other games, are OK.
