tranfsering hdd's without the kit?

is there a way to transfer the data to one hdd to another with out using the MS migration kit?

im really just worried about my game saves.

if your computer have a sata connection yo can hook the old one to the computer and back it up using Norton ghost or some kinda data transfer software (most hard drive that come with a cd has that kind of a software) and hen retrieve it to the new one then put the 360 hard drive together and bingo
