Either I can buy my cousin's Wii which is a D2C or buy my own (new) which will most likely be a D2E or whatever new chipset there is.

Which to go for?

i dont think there is much of a difference, most modchips thesedays are soldered the same to suit D2E, D2C or D2C2.

if buying new, make sure your serial number of the one u r buying is lower than a certain number to avoid buying a D2E drive with the epoxy resin.

i shopped around when i bought mine, and asked to see the serial number b4 i would buy it. after a few shops i found what i was looking 4, and then talked him into giving me $200 worth of accessories & games for it.

it pays to shop around ;-)

Mhmm I have heard about that epoxy resin. I seen a few videos where you can remove it with a heat gun.

Unless nintendo got smart and has something up their sleeve?
