By running the update on the wiifit it "knocks out" the Zelda hack, but it's not too bad as you can run the hack again and all is ok.

If you want you could take the game and remove the update and burn a DVD yourself - thats what I did

I'd love to get this game but no one sells the board separate.

I don't think it had a system menu update with it. But I could be wrong. All it had was an update to add Wii Balance Board support. But in any case it really doesn't matter because you can still use the TP hack even with the newest firmware.
