I just installed Xp PRo Sp1 on my borthers PC for Christmas and I have an issue.

Everytime we do an internet search, then click on a link to take us to a site, a seperate window opens and takes us to some weird site. Is this a pop up issue or what? Please help.

I have pop ups blocked in the settings. Anyone ever had this prpblem?

Are you using internet explorer? If you are stop using it and get firefox 3.0 instead.

Internet explorer on XP sp1 is very unsafe that's why you are being redirected. Even internet explorer on xp sp3 is also unsafe (still hardwired to the registry)

Firefox has built-in pop blocker and won't be redirected as easily.

If you won't be updating to sp2/sp3 make sure you have a good inbound/outbound firewall and a good free antivirus. Also highly recommend you use the free program "returnil" when you surf the internet, no virus/spyware will damage your computer when you surf using "returnil".

too late.. it's riddled with browser exploits and they will spread over to ff

Best bet is start again.. and install some sensible software before just going clicking on links.
