Hi

I have just bought the kids a Wii and want to know if using backups using the software mods will invalidate the warranty, i assume that the chip mods would.

Thanks

Neither soft or hardmods void the warrantee. Even consoles with modchips installed can be sent in to nintendo for service. They remove the chip, perform whatever service was requested, and send it back with the modchip packaged in a small anti-static bag.

goin back 2 a court case sony playstation vs. some guy (cant remember his name)

the high court of australia deemed that modchips are legal

as they dont circumvent the copyright protection on the disc, and they have other functions, other than playing burnt games (ie. playing of imports)

Hi

Thanks to both for the info, there is sometimes a seal on electronic devices which when broken invalidates warranty, does this apply on the Wii?

What if the unit just stopped working rather than had a service request, would Nintendo still repair or replace?

Thanks

Thanks Penguin 98

You previously mentioned that if items were returned chipped then Nintendo were ok with that, what country was that in?
Sorry for asking so many questions but we have have spent quite alot of money here and i dont want to risk bricking it as i couldn't afford to replace it in the current climate

Thanks again
