Ok I have a ps3 for 3 days now and the games ran smoothly ta 1080i but now it always downscales to 720p.

I know this is a known issue but my tv is capable of 1080i and I think something got wrong and I have to fix it in order to get 1080i again.

Please help me.
Thank you very much.

It is not a "known issue", the games that you are playing have a native resolution of 720p so that is what it selects when you play. Some games support 1080i as a native res but not many. If you absolutely want to play in 1080i and the game DOES support it then all you have to do is go into the display options and remove/disable 720p. Then run the game. Personally I just let the game/PS3 choose the optimal/supported native res.

Actually thats a good thing, 720p is a better resolution than 1080i, this is because only half the picture is shown at any one time. so 1080i is really two 540p images alternating.

Which causes motion blur among other things, hardly something you would would call high definition quality. Besides on most tv's you wont notice much of a difference between 720 and 1080 (besides the size of the icons) unless you're over 40".

So 720p is better than 1080i. Is 720p better than 1080p too?

I managed to get 1080i again, but in the beggining the tv tries to get 720p in but because I removed it from being available it stays at 1080i.

I really couldn't tell the difference between the two resolutions. So is it better specifically for my tv to have 720p or only because I cannot have 1080p?

Thanks a lot everyone!

No 1080p is the best out right now, and no its not only for your tv, 720p beats 1080i outright imo.
