I need some help geting the avi/divx codec update on my 360. But the thing is, is that I DO NOT want the NXE update. Now my question is can I plug my 360 into the internet, create an xbox live silver acct. and decline the NXE update, then try to play an avi file and obtain the avi codec when it prompts for the update (without installing the NXE)?

You need to download the NXE first, otherwise the system wont let you proceed with downloading anything else from live, dont see any harm in download the new dash....
