I've been having difficulty converting my old VHS tapes to DVD. Does anyone know of a good one-in-all Video-to-DVD recorder? My old Panasonic Video recorder appears to be on the blink. Regards Mtouset

I had the same problem, and found a computer program which works great, it's call VHS to DVD 3.0 by Honestech. It comes with everything you need to copy VHS to you computer and then to a DVD disc. I found it at BJ's Wholesale Club, and it only costs around $30. It's real easy to use, and you can set it for the lenght of the VHS movie you want to copy and leave the computer and come back when it's done. I use it to copy home movies that I have recorded on my Camcorder. Might be worth looking into. Hope this helps.

While it did not answer the question about a new VCR, the software recommendation is very good. I will hunt for it. Thank you very much. Regards, Mtouset

I have an LG combo DVD recorder/VCR that lets you copy VHS to DVD & DVD to VHS (also upconverts to 1080i).. have had for about 2 year now (so an older model), but it still works great..

checked their website LG Electronics and they have several current models listed.

Now we are getting somewhere. This may be my answere. I am looking for something automatic where I'll have little to no intervention except to put the tape/black DVD in and hit reord. I trust that is all you have to do? Thanks for the info.

You got it... has "auto-dub" feature... just find the point on the tape you want to start from and hit the button.

couldn't be much simpler... and for programs you may have taped that have commercials, you can edit out... Pause the recording, find the new start point on the tape and then hit the button again.

Mines a few years old and the newer ones might be even simpler.. you never know.
