So I received my SATA card today and was going to have a go flashing my 360. Anyway my computer is kinda old and it was the first time I'd opened it up, I wasn't expecting to find a SATA port and what do you know there isn't one. I've tried connecting the PCI card to a PCI port but as of yet it doesn't work. I'll try to explain

Here is the bombsite that is my computer. Note the plastic adapter at the bottom of the left side yellowish belt. Is this what I am supposed to connect the PCI card to? (pic4)
I found what looked like the right connector for the PCI card, however written to the side of it, it says PRI_IDE. I unplugged the connection and found that the port on the motherboard? is a pin connection like the card so obviously it doesn't go in there, so I guess you connect it to the opposite part.
Since I wanted everything left plugged in where it was I plugged the connection back in to the motherboard? and connected the PCI card into the plastic adapter (pic2)
I loaded up my computer and it refused to load up I got an error message saying 'Please re-install a copy of <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe'
So I turned it off unconnected the PCI card and it booted fine after that and now here I am. I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks in advance.
You connect the 6421 into one of the white slots on the lower left hand corner and you don't connect any power source(the mobo powers it) or any other adaptor other than a sata cable to the sata slot. Also, to flash xbox's, you wanna use an internal port, not the external one that the sata cable is connected to in the first picture.
As far as your "Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe" error goes, looks like you may have to reformat or get a new hard drive. Heres what i found for you with a simple google search of the error
"First, try system restore if you have been periodically saving good installs.
Usually, you an boot to your windows CD, and run Windows XP in repair mode... but this could be malware as well.
The computer believed that this file is corrupt: C:\WINNT\System32\Ntoskrnl.exe
This is often caused by a bad hard drive that is beginning to fail. On some computers it is caused by a defective keyboard. But it can come from any set of corrupted files. Some times it is the boot.ini file
But the problem can be more complicated if your computer came with a Recovery or Restore disc instead of a Windows XP install disc. If that is the case, you are better off reformatting and reinstalling Windows after you save the data... for which you will require a separate disc.
Using a regular Windows XP dis, you boot to the disc, then press the R for repair to enter the repair or recovery console.
Select the operating system, then enter your admin password.
Type: Expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ C:\Windows\System32.
You should get a prompt asking you if you want to Overwrite the File.
You should enter Y for yes, the press <ENTER> to Overwrite.
If that works, you are probably home free.
To know for sure, shut down the computer, then run a cold boot with the <Start> button.
If it starts, correctly, then you are done. And lucky."
I have no idea what you are asking. Does your PCI slot not work then? Is that was it is?
If not, it's that row of slots on the motherboard on the bottom left area (in the first pic).
Place your card into there. And plus your 360 dvd drive into one of the INTERNAL sata ports. Don't use the external one like you have shown in one of your pics.
Otherwise, it looks like you're trying to plug it in somehow with an IDE cable.
This could be off, but I have no idea whgat you are asking based off of those pics and such.
