I've read thru some of the other threads and I think they are outdated for my xbox360.

I just got the xbox360 (Arcade - 256mb memory) and want to know what I should do to modify the console and what burning program I can use to backup my games?

well you started off with the wrong assumption. Read through everything. Nothing is out of date on methods of backing up games. Read first, and then ask many specific questions you might have.

360 dvd drive needs flashing

backup that works everytime:
samsung dvd-rom with kreon flash
xbox backup creator-free
dl dvd burner
verbatim dl dvd+r's from singapore
clonecd by slysoft,imgeburn may work as most others should
burn @1x,2x works as well but i prefer to let the burner spend more time burning just to be sure
layer break @ 1913760,clonecd will do this automatically
