This is what I have now.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...AIN#detailspecs

I am looking to get a HD 4850 GPU put in it and I need help picking out a power supply and a new cooling system for the CPU. I am not sure if I actually need a new fan/heatsink for the CPU. So if I don't, please let me know. Please give me your thoughts on what I should get to have the HD 4850 in it. And please understand that this is a minitower as the description for the computer says. So I need a PSU that will fit in it and work good with games.

It would be hard to say... Usually mini towers take special PSUs that are smaller. If this is the case, it will be very hard to find a nice PSU for the PC. Do you know what type of power supply will fit your case? Will it fit a normal ATX PSU?

Only thing I can do to find that out is either take the PSU out of the computer I am on now or wait for the new one I ordered for my new PC build to get here and check it. I really hope it does seeing how the PSU that is in that computer now takes up the whole top back of the computer. But we will find out I guess. Thanks alot for the help and I will respond back and let you know what I find out.

You may be able to get away with a proper PSU for that PC as it looks like it uses a standard ATX unit, which isn't that common for HPs. If it turns out it doesn't you will have to settle for a slower graphics card than the HD4850 in which case I would recommend the HD4670.
Which new PSU have you purchased? Bear in mind more than half the power supplies on the market today are deathtraps. You need to pick a decent brand :)

A case doesn't increase the need for a power supply :P
Just so you know, I'm running an HD4870X2 and Quad core on a 520W PSU. 750W for an HD4850?

Well yeah, I know the case doesn't up what you need. In a way it does though, depending on the fans and abundance of lights that come with the Case. Which I know still would not be alot. I just didn't see the reason to get a smaller PSU if the bigger one is only 10-20 dollars more.

Well, if you got a good deal then why not, but normally a 450W Corsair VX would have done for that system, which is usually a lot cheaper than the 750W PCP&C.

lol :P

I went overkill with the 750 watt PCP&P on my system too. It was like $10 more or something trivial. It weighs a lot and has a very thick (maybe 12 gauge) power cord. I am impressed with it, and plus, it was blue, so it matches everything else in my setup :P

Add me to the overkill club as well, i have a thermaltake Toughpower 850?? What in the hell was i thinking, i bought this thing like a year and a half ago when i had my 8800GTX SLI(SLI's never again) setup on my other rig?? I might need to buy another 4870 X2 to give this power supply some exercise! LMAO
