Hi everyone,

I flashed my 360 (BenQ) and am able to play backups no problem, but I actually wanted to be able to generate my own...

I didn't feel like keeping my 360 open to be able to take my drive in and out, and it's not really close to my PC, so I bought a replacement drive online so I can keep it permanently connected to my desktop. Got a TS-H943.

Now, this is where I'm starting to rip my hair out...
First, to start, I've followed every dang tutorial out there, and I can never get the drive recognized in windows.

- I have a VIA 3249 card, and am running the PortIO32 drivers for it.
- The drive is recognized when running the flashing tools from dos, and it successfully flashes
- I'm using the xecuter ck3 pro to power, eject and set the mode on it
- I've tried most firmwares out there, including xtrm0800.bin
- When in windows (Vista), nothing except jungleflasher can see it (and jungleflasher)

I'm starting to go a little crazy here. Every tutorial has the section about getting it recognized in windows pretty much as "it just works when you put this firmware in".

Any advice ?

Thanks !

You don't need portio.dll drivers.
You don't put a Samsung into ModeB

You flash the xtreme0800.bin fw on it with your key and you just leave it on and boot into windows. Windows then recognizes it and gives it a drive letter.

Hmm, didn't work for me.

I have this feeling I'm missing a step.

Steps I've done.

- Burn activate.iso from xtreme30 package onto a DVD+R DL using cloneDVD.
- Connected my drive using the CK3 with the light being blue
- Taken xtrm0800.bin, and put in my key
- Flashed it in using dosflash, reported success
- put the burned activate.iso in the drive, and boot into windows

Should I see the drive in windows at this point ?

Things to note. I've read a bunch of threads talking about how they didn't burn the activate.iso properly, or that their burners messed it up. Any way for me to check it's properly burned ? My normal DVD drive won't read it, it just spins loudly. Second, I'm not using the original key from the drive. I have it backed up, but I'm actually using the same key as my 360. Is that a problem ?

Thanks a ton !

Update: Ok, progress !
Removing portio32 and reverting back to viamraid.sys makes a CD Drive show up in windows !

Problem I have now is that when I pop in an original, I BSOD. I'm going to take a look at the dump to see if I can get anything out of it, but anyone run into this ?
