Have recently modded a US wii with a d2pro 9 wire using a wii clip. I used this chip because the write ups said it made the wii region free.
Some PAL version backups now work but others recognise the disk but when started the screen just goes black and the wii has to be turned off.
I have been looking into this and have seen references to homebrews and geckos but i have never done anything with these before so would rather avoid them if i can.
Is there any way i can get the games to work or is it just a case of PAL games not all been compatable with NTSC

It has to do with the video output of the game. PAL and NTSC games output different resolutions and refresh rates. Sometimes the TV has problems with it and cant display the information its getting.

The easiest fix is just using the NTSC version of the game. If for some reason you insist on using the PAL versions then you should install the homebrew channel and boot them through gecko os. Gecko will let you force the output to a form compatible with your TV.
