My son's fat psp has been running fine on 4.01 m33 firmware for a month or so, until now! He was halfway through a level on Lego Batman when the game froze, then the psp switched itself off. Now when you attempt to turn it on, the green power led lights for 2-3 seconds then turns off again and psp doesnt boot up.
I have tried different batteries, I have tried without battery and plugged into mains.
Recovery does not load.
I suspected possible random brick, but tried a Pandoras battery and Magic memory stick to reboot( used many times for other downgrade/upgrades!) Still no joy!
Dismantled psp to check connectors etc, all okay! Any ideas other than the usual?!?
hmm that definitely sounds like a brick, a full brick cause you can't even access the recovery, you will have to do the pandora stuff, i will see if i have the link to the guide and post back.
i am however curious as to why it suddenly bricked in the middle of the game though, i didn't think something like that could happen unless you mess up the flash.
Already made a Pandoras battery and Magic memory stick using a working psp on 4.01 m33-2, I have already used my method on other psp's to upgrade, and they're fine. Just no good on this one!!
Yes it is random to happen mid game, but it has been working fine!!!
Just updating! Tried few more times with Pandora etc, no joy! Stripped down again, as well as my own psp to 'donor' parts (except the motherboard as mine is different version board!) Still no joy, so while I was there I tested the 3 fuses on the motherboard, and they were fine. Anyone got a spare ta-081 motherboard that works. lol!
Just updating! Bought a faulty psp from 2nd hand shop for £15, tried it in store, only wouldnt boot umd's and a bit tatty! Got it home and stripped, by chance it had a ta-81 motherboard in it! So swapped it over to me boys, and it's all up and running, had to use pandora and magic memory stick as it was on ofw, now it's up to date and runs umd's too! Bargain! Cheers all!
