Hi guys, Happy new year everyone
After much reading up, and the use of several faqs, I still can't manage to get my key off my liteon drive.
I've done tons of sammys, benqs, and various hitachis with my setup, no problems at all, but I'm gettin nowhere here.
My setup is nf4 onboard sata, in legacy mode (have a via card aswell, not installed at the mo.)
ck3 with probe, serial version
Using dosflash32 1.7, I can id the liteon on the correct port fine, but can't use the key function, it fails every time.
Using jungleflasher, cannot get the drive recognised even if I select the correct port, also tried xtractor 2.7, it says "ata identify timeout"
Windows cannot see the drive (not sure whether it would though)
I have tried the key extract options anyways, and they (as you ccan imagine) all fail, jungleflasher returning zeroes and dosflash32 saying just failed (although sees com port ok)
I have tried the unlock methods, ie pushing the drive in halfway after an eject, then cycling power,
I am totally tearing my hair out and would really appreiciate any pointers!

Just a wee update,
I have also tried all the above with my via 4621 card,
Also tried ck3 tool 1.24,
I get all c's, and device state timeout,
Although it "seems" to find the device, it times out trying to access it,
Hope that sheds a bit more light onto my problem,
Cheers

so when you try it with the via card, did you have the drivers competely uninstalled? AKA, dod you follow the guide exactly?

I have the xtractor with spear, and a via card. It worked perfect for me, so I guess just answer that, and I'll see if I can help.

Hi, thanks for the reply
When I tried it with the via card, I totally disabled the onboard sata, and also disabled the via drivers, and just had portio32 installed instead.
All was exactly the same. Dosflash32 can see what port the liteon is on, but I can't extract the key or ident/inquiry,
In jungleflasher it can't see the liteon.
I have just tried dvdkey32 through cmd prompt, it runs ok but again, can't extract the key.
I am using the ck3 and probe, as opposed to diy kits or soldering.
This is sooo annoying. My setup works perfectly for all other drives.
Could my ck3 be dodgy you think?

i guess it's possible. Would be nice if you had a second ck3 or xtractor there to test that theory out.

That is pretty weird. So when you use jungleflasher, and you cycle through all the ports manually, it just never identifies the liteon on any of the ports?

Sidenote, when I flashed with the via, I didn't disable any port. I wasn't sure either which one my liteon was attached to, so I just selected each one from the drop down list until I eventually found it.

This really is weird,
I have a spare ck2, but wouldn't be able to extract key with that, might dig it out and get back to you (ie to see if jungleflasher picks it up)
Basically with either onboard or via sata, Jungleflasher cannot see the liteon on any port. The dosflash32 (which is what I have always recently used for flashing sammys and benqs, with no problem using my onboard sata) app picks up the Liteon on 0f80 (sata master onboard) no problem, but then fails when trying to get the key.
The ck3 tool app can see the drive when trying to get the key, but returns blank ident, inquiry and key files, and get device timeout.
This all happens in exactly the same way when using the via card.
I'm tempted to order an xtractor and spear, but don't want to go wasting my cash if I am doing something daft!

I had a similiar problem. I used dvdkey in dos. always returned ccccc's for drive key. I then removed power from the drive and ck3, unplugged then plugged back in the sata cable, then powered up the the drive and ck3 and then read key successfully. Goodluck.

Thanks for that tip, I'll have a bash at dvdkey in dos...with the unplugging the ck3 method.
I'll let you know how I get on

You're using the CK3? If it still does not work I can send you the schematic that I used to make a homemade one that works great.

sorry man, I'm really not sure what to tell you.

Only thing I can think of is it seems so far people have had issues when using portio with running the .exe file.

Try downloading it and installing the file from maximus's website. It will have you "add new hardware" through the control panel.

I was getting 000's in jungle flasher my problem was the tut i was using(off the xecuter website) didn't tell me that after pushing my drive halfway in i needed to turn it off and then on. Also CCC's mean you need to power cycle as the guy above mentioned.
YOu should use the noob lite-on flash guide which you can find on the xecuter tutorial here http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm

Guesswho, thanks for the advice regarding the portio drivers. To anyone else, add the portio drivers manually through the control panel. (I had to uninstall them first) It makes all the difference.
As soon as I had done that, jungleflasher burst into life! It recognised the Liteon instantly, It got the identify and inquiry strings off the drive no problem, I'm still having issues getting the key itself (still 0s) but that may be down to my ck3 - I think it has thrown a wobbler as it now refuses to eject any drive connected, so I'm going to get a new one - or maybe an xtractor!

good, well glad to hear that the driver download and install worked better than the exe file. I think it has for almost everyone
