I am having problems capturing video; I am getting no preview of the video, only sound. I am trying to transfer some home movies from VHS to my hard drive or even to DVD. I have tried Nero, ADS XpressDVD, and some other programs that I have found, all with no luck. I have used Nero and the ADS before with no problems, now they are not working. I am running Windows Vista with a Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II capture card I hope someone could give me some answer or even somehow to fix it.

I have been pleased with my PX-M402U for several years. I have tried the PC cards with no luck and returned them.
Should you decide to purchase one of the models, and you were to record a TV program to the hard disk you should be able to hook it up to your cable or satellite box. By doing this you bypass your VCR.
I edit out the commercials and burn to the hard drive rather to DVD as I feel I have more control on burn speed. By doing it this way you will have to make an image file first.
Also do a test first of the Video Qualities as the default is much to dark. Mine is set to 70 on Brightness, 1 on Hue and the remaining is left to default settings. Also when recording be sure the volume is set to the highest.
Under Device Control, be sue it?s set to Composite Video, I think S-Video is the default.
If you can return the PC card, they just don?t work as advertised.
