I have purchased two new controllers over the past year and I keep ripping through the cover somehow mainly on the L3 button. Is there a remedy or replacement cover I can get?
THe guy at Gamestop said to me -- maybe go easier? - not helpful at all.
What do you mean by "ripping through the cover"? I mean... all the buttons are made out of plastic. They're pretty tough to rip through.
If you mean you're wearing away the padding on the analog sticks, though, then that's something else entirely (actually not, but I'd like to think it is). I dunno how to fix it, but you could jerry-rig the stick by gluing some rubbery material onto it. That's super shoddy, but beyond taking the controller apart and replacing the stick, I don't have any really awesome ideas.
That's what I meant. The padding on the analog sticks has been ripped through. To happen once I figured was just my fault but now twice -- I cant keep going out to replace controllers just b/c of that. I tried to super glue it -- no avail.
Well, if you're good at taking small and complex electronic devices apart, then you can try replacing your worn-down stick with one from another controller. Maybe?
I've seen people with the old DS2's having their analogs essentially polished smooth because of how much they were used but I haven't seen any problems with the covers on the new controllers.
There are these silicone covers you can get for them, it might not be as good as a fresh DS3 but it saves you blowing another 50-60 bucks because it seems like however you're using them its just going to be a recurring problem.
