I just got a flash drive to update my PS3 from the internet. I download the file that I want to update and put it into the flash drive and then try to install it into my PS3. I put it into the USP port and go to update and surch off of the flash drive but says that it finds no files and not sure why?

Ah the thing that catches everyone out for they forgot to read the little leaflet that came with the PS3.

On the USB drive create a folder called PS3, in capital letters, then in this PS3 folder create another folder called UPDATE. Then place the file into the UPDATE folder

Same goes with video, photos and music, create a VIDEO, AUDIO and PICTURE folder and then go into those on the PS3 to play.

The updates have to be done like that, for videos and music, you dont need to create the folders, but in order to view the files first add the usb drive in and goto it, it'll show no data found, then if you press triangle there is an option to display all, this then shows everything.

Also, the Flash Drive needs to be formatted in FAT 32 as NTFS (Microsoft Filesystem) doesn't work with the PS3.
