Are different version of the Hitachi-LG drive the same?

Are all of the versions of the Hitachi drive the same?
Could I take the board from any version and put in into a different version? Thanks

P.S. Its the GDR-3120L in case that helps. =]

Hey, I noticed you answered my other question and thanks. Do you know of anywhere that might sell the same exact drive as the one I have. I do not think that it has a version (it was made in 2005).

Its the Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L

woop scratch that. my drive is a 0046DG or 46 for short I guess.
