hi, i have a wiikey on my wii and it is currently not playing my backup games. it is not showing on the regular channel. but when i try to play the backup games through the homebrew/soft mod, it works. what could be the problem? helppp!

Maybe you should try putting the WiiKey in your Wii, and not on your Wii.
No, seriously, i may just not be installed correctly, not being recognized.
well, it actually is in. and it used to work, but after i kept updating the wii, i realized it wouldn't read the disks. so after messsing with it, i installed homebrew and did a soft mod. so now i can play the games through homebrew. i wasnt aware that the modchip can die? do i have to reinstall the chip? do i have to install software to use the wiikey?
