I acquired a 3.3 console that has had nothing previously done to it. I'd like to install a wiikey or the like in it. Is there anything additional that will need to be done or obtained in order to 1) install the mod or 2) install The Homebrew Channel? There's so much conflicting info regarding updates after 3.2.

nope nothing needs to be changed in ur hardware to install a mod chip

Thanks for the info regarding the mod. What about getting The Homebrew Channel installed? Anything special for it?

Nope, just make sure you're using the right twilight hack version.

The reason you see all the conflicting info is because when the new firmwares come out they mess up homebrew installers and such, but these things get fixed in fairly short order. Theres nothing you cant do even with the newest firmware wii's.

The Twilight Hack is the only way to get the Homebrew Channel even on a modded system? I might as well not even get a modchip if I still have to Twilight Hack it.

If your wii is firmware 3.2 or earlier and you have a modchip then you can use the homebrew channel installer disk to install the channel.

If you have a later firmware or lack a modchip then no, theres no other way to install the homebrew channel besides the twilight hack.

Well that stinks. There's no plans for an installer disk for the new Wii updates? I see beta 8 is the last channel update to get an installer disk. There's been 3 channel updates since then but no installer disk update.

Its not that they wont make more installer disks, its that its simply not possible to make an installer disk for wii firmwares after 3.2.

And if your wii can connect to the internet then the homebrew channel will automatically connect and prompt to update itself to the newest version when you start it up. All you have to do is accept the update.

If you softmod your wii using the Twilight Hack can you play backuped games or do u have to use a mod chip.

thanks, i read how to do it before but wasnt clear on if it would play burnt games, i download game torrents so can i just put them on a normal dvd or double layer disc?
