Is there any chance Sony will add better support for external drives other than FAT32? I have both PCs and a Mac at home and swap files between these. Some of my external drives are in NTFS and one is in HFS+. Both these work on PC and MAC either way but not on my PS3. Surely that's both a simple and desirable fix.

HFS+ shouldn't be working on your PC, and I thought that the PS3 does support NTFS?

No it doesn't, fat32 only. And its not going to happen as Sony uses format restrictions as a line of defence against downloaded games in the unlikely case the ps3 ever gets hacked. Its desirable sure but it's highly unlikely.

I've heard from various people and read in some posts on this forum that the PS3 can support NTFS though, hmmm.... weird (I don't have one as of now but I have been doing a lot of research on it. Because of that, it might make me a little more reluctant to buy one.)

Macdrive 2 for PC runs HFS+ on my PC perfectly. Must try one of my NTFS drives on my PS3 if you reckon it does work.

NTFS will not work for the reason canuckerz mentioned and probably many more reasons. Probably will never be supported by Sony.
