I'm looking to buy a used 360 off Craig?s list, so I can play my backed up games. Now, as i am reading into these issues dealing with the 360 and the RROD, I?m not so sure. Couple of questions:

If i flash the drive do I lose warranty? Should I flash it?

Is RROD that big off a problem that I should be afraid to purchase an Xbox?

Is it cheap to pay someone to fix RROD?

In all truthfulness opening the case of the X360 is voiding the warranty.

If your are not a Microsoft Certified Technician or given specific rights to repair the device it is breaking the TOS.

If you compare removing/replacing a tamper proof sticker = not voiding the warranty it's up to you.

These machines only cost $200 so if it RROD's you haven't lost that much of an investment compared to a $2000 PC or what have you.

THE RISK IS YOURS.

You just have to accept that older versions of the X360 are not as reliable as the newest revisions of the current hardware.

Just depends on where you live and which RROD you get.

To me the +'s outweigh the -'S.

The problem of the RROD is fixed. There have been some changes in the hardware. The new models are fine. The new models also contains a new kind of warrenty seal that you can leave intact and still flash your drive. In fact the new warrenty seals are very easy to leave intact. If you are carefull and use a hair dryer.

You can buy warranty stickers on eBay.
